hello, i’m kyla

A week before my 30th birthday, I half-jokingly took a pregnancy test while my best friend was visiting from London. A faint little line appeared that I had always dreamt of but wasn’t quite expecting just yet. After a harrowing experience with a doctor who wrongly told me I wasn’t pregnant (it was pretty early and my hCG weren’t high enough at that point), I left in tears but in my gut I knew. Later that week I confirmed I was in fact pregnant. I unfortunately spent weeks feeling sick, anxious and mentally exhausted. I didn’t know where to start in terms of my care team options, and how to care for myself during this new period.  It was a time I wanted to be tender with myself but didn’t know how to – and even though my life is full of friends and family, that feeling of “I’m going through this alone” was lingering in the back of my head.

Tenderness is both innate and learned. We have to cultivate it and practise it, and sometimes it feels impossible, especially when we’re bestowing it upon ourselves. Sometimes it just takes another set of hands, another pair of eyes, another soul to share with, to reach our most tender selves.

I wanted to set up a support system that guides people through matrescence – the transformation of becoming a mother. The idea had been brewing in my mind for years, as someone who’s been exploring in wellness and self-care from a young age. I’d spent an October in the Panama jungle doing my yoga teacher training. Taught meditation classes with a virtual focus. Embarked on a reiki training whilst living abroad. Dived into postpartum doula training while I was still pregnant. And completed my breathwork training that involved me nursing my daughter whilst practice teaching. From there, there was no looking back. I knew my work was to serve, protect and help guide others through a journey that means so much to me and to who I am.

I’m here to guide you through everything from pregnancy to postpartum and offer breath work for all humans. Whether you need to breathe through the next chapter, transition in your life with guided support, or you’re on your journey to being a mother (again, or for the first time) I am here to hold you, offer you information and resources to help break down the barriers.
